OU First Lady granted pay increase by trustees

The McDavis' household was given more than one pay increase at Thursday’s Board of Trustees’ meeting.

Deborah McDavis, the wife of Ohio University President Roderick McDavis, received a 3 percent pay increase — bumping her salary to $30,900 for the 2013-14 school year at the board's annual retreat at Columbus State Community College.

The board attributed the pay increase to Deborah's "tireless work" for OU, according to the board's annual review of President McDavis and written by board Chairwoman Sandra Anderson.

"My wife Deborah's commitment is but one example of how our faculty and staff change and impact the transformational experience of our students," President McDavis said, in an email. "She is a tireless ambassador and advocate for Ohio University, and I am very proud of her and what she adds to our community."

Anderson praised President McDavis’ accomplishments Thursday before announcing his raise — increasing his pay to $427,000 and giving him a bonus of $62,250 — but Deborah's was not discussed in any capacity.

“It’s 24/7. This is a 24/7 job, position, being involved in campus life,” said Deborah, in a previous Post report. “But it’s fun. We both love it.”
