An Ohio University student from Canal Winchester, Ohio, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to drug trafficking charges regarding multiple incidents in a university residence hall on South Green.
Garrett Haptonstall, 20, was indicted on three counts of trafficking in marijuana, a felony of the fifth-degree, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
Court documents do not specify how much marijuana was involved, but, in a news release, Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said Haptonstall is accused of selling marijuana to another individual on Feb. 20, March 11 and March 18.
Both the Ohio University and Athens Police departments investigated the crime, which allegedly occurred in Armbruster House on South Green, according to an OUPD police report.
Judge George P. McCarthy released Haptonstall on his own recognizance.
He will have an intervention in lieu of a hearing Nov. 21, according to court documents.
