Inman faces second appeal case in wife's murder

A man serving a life sentence without parole for kidnapping and killing his wife in 2011 was appointed a new attorney for his second appeal case.

After originally trying to appeal his case in July, William Inman II, 28, was denied by the 4th District Court of Appeals. He will be assigned a court-appointed attorney.

Until his next hearing, Inman II is incarcerated at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe.

Inman II and his parents, William Inman I and Sandra Inman, both 48, were found guilty of kidnapping and murdering Summer Cook Inman, 25. Their charges include murder, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and gross abuse of a corpse.

Cook Inman was in the midst of a divorce and custody battle with Inman II, according to a previous Post article.

Her body was found a week later in a septic tank behind a Nelsonville church.

Inman I also tried to appeal his case through the Hocking County Court of Common Pleas in March, but he and his wife will not attempt to appeal their convictions with their son.

According to a previous Post article, Sandra was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison and Inman I received the same sentence as his son; however, he could have served the death penalty.

No trial date has been set for Inman II’s appeal.
