OU leadership series to be offered twice

For the first time, Ohio University’s 21st Century Leadership Series will be offered twice this school year.

The program is free to OU students seeking to learn leadership skills for their student organizations.

Starting Tuesday, the series will run every Tuesday and Wednesday until Oct. 16. These sessions will be in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“It’s good to have (the series) available twice in a semester,” said Mariah Moss, a sophomore studying business administration. “People can actually go through the program now and receive the certificate. We try to make it accessible to students.”

The leadership series’ second program will begin Oct. 22 and end Dec. 11.

“When we talk to employers, they are always saying they look for leadership skills,” said Julia Fleming, assistant director of the career and leadership center for employer relations.

There are application and interview processes for students looking to get involved.

“I hope students take away skills to build resumes and write cover letters to be competitive in the world,” said Kate Clausen, a sophomore studying communication studies.

*Clarification: An article in yesterday's paper did not clarify that though there are application and interview processes for students looking to become leadership ambassadors, student wanting to take the 21st Century Leadership Series just need their student IDs.
