Self-dubbed 'Redneck Woman' set to take stage, rock university this fall

Following the performance by country duo Thompson Square, country star Gretchen Wilson will join the line-up of the Ohio University Performing Arts Series. Wilson will grace the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium stage on Nov. 14.

Self-proclaimed “Redneck Woman” Gretchen Wilson has enjoyed three No. 1 albums since her successful debut with Here for the Party in 2004. Wilson said she is again on the rise, proclaiming on her website, “I’ll be putting out more music this year than I did in the first three years of my career.”

Andrew Holzaepfel, associate director of programming in the Campus Involvement Center, said he has high hopes for a positive response from the student body.

“Gretchen Wilson has been on our list of potential artists for a couple years now,” Holzaepfel said in an email. “This year we were able to make the touring routing work by pairing our date up with a concert at Clark State. Based on the initial response, this will be a very popular show.”

Pre-sale tickets will be available on Sept. 11 and 12. Tickets are open for purchase by the public on Friday, Sept. 13 at noon starting at $25. More information can be found on the OU Performing Arts Website.
