Athens City Fire officials have put out the car fire on College Street after the vehcile burst into flames this afternoon.
The car belonged to Brianna Schaefer, a Logan High School senior who was visiting an Ohio University student for lunch.
Police initialy established a perimeter, closing off College Street between Washington and Mill Street around the vehicle to prevent further destruction, but the damage was contained to the car.
It wasn't immediately clear the cause of the fire.
