Glouster man indicted for aggravated murder

The September Term of the Athens County grand jury indicted a Glouster man Monday for aggravated murder of his father, Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said in a press conference Monday.

Paul J. Roberts, 41, is accused of killing his father, Paul E. Roberts, earlier this month. The elder Roberts, 63, had not been seen for approximately two weeks prior to law enforcement finding the body Oct. 21 in a well under the porch of his 68 Locust St. residence.

Paul J. Roberts was indicted for a total of nine felony counts, including grand theft of a vehicle and tampering with evidence.

Blackburn said there is not sufficient evidence for the death penalty right now; but, as he had suggested before, it could still be a possibility.

He added that his office will take that decision seriously.

In the meantime, according to a press release from Blackburn's office, "the investigation will continue and additional charges are possible."
