Officials confirmed the mid-September outage that affected Internet access across Ohio University’s campuses was caused by Apple’s iOS 7 software upgrade.
“Our team has made several changes over a period of days to harden this critical part of our infrastructure,” said Joe Lalley, senior associate vice president of IT and Administrative Services, in a press release. “I do feel we are in a much better situation now that will minimize the chance of a recurrence.”
The day the outage occurred, OARnet, the Internet service provider for all public universities in Ohio, warned OU of the similar Internet problems felt throughout the nation.
