Newest Baker Bash has a country theme

With HallOUween come and gone, Ohio University’s Campus Involvement Center looks to keep student excitement high with BBQ, Boots and Bobcats today.

The name of the event, and the activities taking place, were both designed to fit with the country theme of the event.

“Every year, the Campus Involvement Center hosts a large event throughout Baker Center. With country artist Kacey Musgraves being here Thursday night, we felt BBQ, Boots and Bobcats would be a great addition to a country-filled week,” said Samantha Caulfield, Student Public Relations Coordinator for Campus Involvement Center, in an email.

The event will include a mechanical bull, local music, line dancing, horse-drawn wagon rides, leather art and country-themed food — provided by OU Dining Services and Kiser’s BBQ.

“Live entertainment will be provided by the Hocking River String Band,” said Blaire Crombie, a Campus Involvement Center graduate assistant and coordinator for the event.

The center expects students to make a large showing at the event.

“This type of event generates around 1,500 students and community members” Caulfield said.

has a pending records request for the event’s costs and how these funds were appropriated.

There is no cost to students.

“I’m excited about wearing my boots since I never wear them out,” said Meghan Noga, a freshman studying journalism “It’s been the only thing since coming to school that has been relatable to me. I’m from Virginia and I’m used to barbeque, boots and the country lifestyle. Hopefully there will be people there that I can be excited with.”
