Brice Bible, Ohio University’s chief information officer, is leaving Athens to accept a new position at the University at Buffalo, the largest campus in the State University of New York system.

University at Buffalo President Satish K. Tripathi announced Bible’s appointment as the new vice president and chief information officer Thursday, according to a news release by the university.

His appointment will become effective Nov. 18.

According to the release, Bible’s new position “will play a critical role in advancing University at Buffalo’s research and education mission and its global prominence as a progressive university that delivers a well-aligned, innovative and robust technology environment.”

As OU’s chief information officer, Bible earned $233,508 a year.

His new position at the University at Buffalo will pay $250,000, said John DellaContrada, assistant vice president for media relations at the University at Buffalo.

“I have worked with Brice Bible for three years and he has been a valued leader in developing technology-based solutions for our university and the state of Ohio,” OU’s Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding said in an email. “He has accomplished every goal he set for himself here and the University at Buffalo is getting a thoughtful and respected colleague. We wish him well and we thank him for all he has done for Ohio.”

In more than 20 years of experience, Bible created and implemented a comprehensive IT improvement and modernization program and was on a research team that was awarded several patents, according to the release.

“I have very much enjoyed my tenure at Ohio University,” Bible said in an email.

“OU has some really great IT professionals, and I was fortunate to work with such a talented group. The University at Buffalo represents an awesome opportunity for me to return to a major research university and contribute to some exciting strategic initiatives.”
