Board approves pay increase for President McDavis

Ohio University President Roderick McDavis and Deborah McDavis, his wife, both received a one percent pay increase at the OU Board of Trustees meeting Friday.

Sandra Anderson, the Board's chair, announced near the end of the meeting that in order for the McDavis' to be eligible for the one percent faculty and staff salary pool allocated at the August Board meeting, the board had to take action.

The board voted to increase President McDavis' salary $4,150 and Deborah's salary by $300, according to Jennifer Krisch, an OU spokeswoman.

President McDavis' salary now totals $431,150 while his wife's totals $31,200, for the 2013-14 fiscal year, Krisch said, in an email.

"For the first lady and president to have it, it had to be approved by the board," said Katie Quaranta, an OU spokeswoman.

McDavis recommended the faculty and staff salary increases due to a boost in enrollment at the board’s August meeting.

Jennifer Kirksey, McDavis' chief of staff, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The board was not required to put forth a formal resolution and the raise was discussed in executive session.

McDavis and his wife were each given a pay increase at the August board meeting, raising his base salary by 2.89 percent to $427,000 and granting him a one-time bonus of $62,250, according to a previous Post article.

Deborah's pay increased to $30,900 at the August Board meeting, an increase of three percent, according to the article.
