Election season may be known for its furious power politicking, name-calling and all-around arguing, but in this year’s general election, many local candidates ran uncontested.
In Athens alone, Jim Sands maintained his position as president of city council, along with councilmembers Kent Butler, D-1st Ward, Jeff Risner, D-2nd Ward, Michele Papai, D-3rd Ward, and Chris Fahl, D-4th Ward.
Mary Ann McClure also ran uncontested for Athens City Treasurer.
In Nelsonville, voters elected all four candidates — Kevin Dotson, Terry Koons, Cory Ward Taylor and Linda A. Watkins — on the ballot for city council.
City council candidates in Albany, Amesville, Buchtel, Chauncey, Coolville and Jacksonville also ran uncontested.
