Last time Ohio faced off against Indiana, the Bobcats defeated them in dominant fashion, so Indiana could be looking for revenge this weekend.
No. 9 Ohio (14-4-1) will take on Indiana (4-8-1) at Frank Southern Ice Arena in Bloomington, Ind. for a pair of games this weekend, after the Bobcats hosted the Hoosiers on Nov. 8-9 and outscored them 13-2 in a pair of wins.
Although there was a lopsided outcome in Ohio’s favor last time, coach Jonathon Sheridan does not plan to prepare any differently.
“We’re preparing like we would any other weekend,” said Sheridan. “It’s a new weekend and new games, and just because you beat a team in two games does not mean you’ll beat them again, so the guys need to be focused on the task at hand.”
After a stellar weekend against Lindenwood last weekend, Ohio is in the midst of a five-game winning streak. During that span, the Bobcats have outscored their opponents 28-11 and have seen several players perform at a high level.
One player is freshman forward Patrick Spellacy, who registered four points in two games against the Lions last weekend. Spellacy’s performance also included a clock-beating, game-tying goal in game one, along with both of the game-winning goals for the weekend.
Indiana is coming off of a 2-1 win last weekend against Illinois. They split the weekend series and look to carry over their successes from the win against the Fighting Illini to the weekend series against the Bobcats. Indiana’s leading scorer is forward Greg Rachke, who has scored 11 points in just 14 games played.
And although the Bobcats rattled the Hoosiers the last time the teams met, anything can happen in any given game.
“My expectations are for the guys to play hard and have a good start,” said Sheridan. “We need to play with poise, and doing that usually leads to a good outcome.”
The puck will drop Friday at 9:15 p.m., before the Bobcats and Hoosiers play again Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
