Jekyll & Hyde: The Musical, the longest-running show in Plymouth Theatre’s history, starring David Hasselhoff, will be returning into the spotlight.
The Athena Grand, in association with SpectiCast, will be bringing the popular play to the big screen as they present a performance of the musical for one night only.
“The fans should expect a unique one night experience,” said Rick Frame, general manager of the Athena Grand. “We at the Athena Grand pride ourselves on our alternative content showings, this included. It is our pleasure to bring Broadway to Athens. Nov. 20 provides Southeastern Ohio with a chance to see it without making a trip to NYC.”
The show, which was Hasselhoff’s Broadway debut, features songs including “Someone Like You,” “This Is The Moment” and “Once Upon A Dream” that have been performed by Liza Minnelli, The Moody Blues and Johnny Mathis.
“This is significant for both our company and the Broadway industry because it marks the first time Broadway content is being exhibited as a series in a big screen experience, similar to what The Met Live in HD has been doing very successfully for several years now,” said Mark Rupp, president of SpectiCast.
The show is notable for growing a number of hardcore fans, affectionately called “jekkies,” who would see the show hundreds of times.
Asia Willis, of Gorgeous PR, said she also believes that this collaboration from Broadway and screen will help audiences who wouldn’t get to experience this film in New York the chance to experience the film.
