Live Football Notebook: Ohio vs. Kent State

PREGAME

Ohio hosts the Kent State Golden Flashes tonight at 8:00 on ESPN2 after a two game losing streak. The Bobcats look to rebound after dropping their last two games by a combined score of 79-3. The Flashes are on the heels of a 24-6 victory against Miami. Senior running back Dri Archer, who has eight touchdowns on the season, leads the Golden Flashes rushing attack. Kent State’s last two opponents averaged just 11 points and 240 yards of offense. The Golden Flashes defense has 16 tackles for loss and six sacks in its last two games.

FIRST QUARTER

Ohio redshirt quarterback Tyler Tettleton connects with redshirt senior wide receiver Matt Waters for a 41-yard pass play. Ball on Kent Sate's nine yard line.

*Redshirt sophomore Josiah Yazdani converts on a 20-yard field goal. Ohio takes a 3-0 lead with 12:06 remaining in the first quarter.

*Kent State answers with a 47-yard field goal by sophomore Anthony Melchiori. Tied at 3-3. 8:51 left in the first quarter.

*Yazdani makes a 49-yard field goal to put the Bobcats up by three points. Ohio leading 6-3 with 59 seconds left in the first quarter.

SECOND QUARTER

*Kent State senior running back Dri Archer scores on a 24-yard touchdown run. The Golden Flashes lead 10-6 with 13:34 remaining in the half.

*Redshirt senior Tyler Tettleton with a one-yard touchdown pass to redshirt senior wide receiver Mario Dovell. Ohio retakes the lead 13-10 with 10:04 left in the first quarter.

Ohio redshirt sophomore punter Grant Venham muffs low punt, picked up by the Golden Flashes on Ohio's 48-yard line. 6:30 remaining in the first half.

Melchiori misses 31 yard field goal attempt. Bobcats still lead 13-10 with 3:38 left in the first half.

*Kent State junior tight end Casey Pierce with an 11-yard touchdown catch from redshirt freshman quarterback Colin Reardon. The Golden Flashes lead 17-13 with 31 seconds left in the first half.

At halftime: Kent State leads Ohio 17-13.

THIRD QUARTER

*Dri Archer opens scorings in the third quarter with a five-yard touchdown run. The Golden Flashes extend their lead to 24-13 with 12:02 remaining in the third quarter.

*Kent State defensive lineman Nate Terhune scores on a 61-yard fake punt. The Golden Flashes lead the Bobcats 31-3 with 8:03 left in the third quarter.

The Golden Flashes senior cornerback Malcolm Pannell picks off Tyler Tettleton with 4:47 remaining in the third quarter.
