Woman accused of trafficking teen arraigned for drug possession

A Glouster woman accused of trafficking a minor as a prostitute for money and drugs was arraigned in court Monday for a separate indictment.

Aileen Mays, 27, pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth-degree, according to court documents.

She is also charged with three counts of compelling prostitution and one count of trafficking in persons for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old girl and allowing a 69-year-old Athens man, Fred Kittle Sr., to use her as a prostitute in exchange for money and prescription narcotics.

Mays pleaded not guilty to those charges on Oct. 16 and has been incarcerated in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a bond of $350,000. She will appear in court Nov. 19 for a pretrial addressing those indictments.

Kittle’s case was dismissed in the Athens County Municipal Court on Sept. 28, one day after the two were arrested, and his case remains under investigation.

The Athens County Sheriff’s office requested a search warrant at that time because of an interview with the victim, which the Athens County Common Pleas Court granted, to enter Kittle’s home and to swab his mouth for DNA to compare to that obtained in the sexual assault kit, according to court documents.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification has yet to return the results of the DNA test.

Jill Del Greco, spokeswoman for the bureau, said she couldn’t comment on the status of individual sexual assault kits before the bureau deems whether a match was found.
