Dairy Barn's annual Holiday Bazaar will sell festive trinkets crafted by 42 local vendors this weekend

For those who are in grave need of creative gift ideas, the Holiday Bazaar is the place to be.

The Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Lane, will be holding its annual crafts show on Friday and Saturday.

“I have things that are very affordable and will make good presents,” said Susan Sherman, one of the artists who will be showing off her pottery pieces.

Claire White, the gallery shop manager at The Dairy Barn, said there will be about 42 vendors at the show. The majority of the vendors are from Athens and outlying areas.

The items for sale are relatively inexpensive,  and White said she expects the pricing to range from $10 to $100.

“We’ve done it for at least 10 years now,” White said. “It gives the artists an opportunity to sell their works and brings people to the Dairy Barn.”

The Dairy Barn also has a similar fest during Moms Weekend.

White said visitors can expect to find pieces from fiber, glass, jewelry, pottery and wood.

Artists Dave Gustafson and his wife Janet work with fused glass for their pieces. Gustafson said that along with sun catchers, bowls and plates, they will have various ornaments and Santa Claus, snowmen and penguin figurines.

“It’s a reasonably good craft show,” Gustafson said. “Especially since the newest director really promotes it heavily with social media.”

Sherman said that on Friday there are usually hors d’oeuvres and a bar, which makes for a welcoming event.

“I’ve done it for several years, and I keep going back because it’s just such a nice atmosphere at the Dairy Barn,” Sherman said.
