Deck The Green: Holiday Nail Tutorials

Feeling like letting your nails get into the holiday spirit? Here are three nail designs for you to try out this season! Each video includes simple step-by-step tutorials, with more descriptive instructions listed underneath.

Falling Snowflake Nails

1. Apply two coats of a light blue polish to all nails. Allow it to dry completely
2. Put a small amount of white polish on a piece of paper
3. Take a cotton swab, dip it into the white polish and dab on nail
4. Fade the color, concentrating on the tip of the nail, then fading down
5. If desired, take a sparkle polish and apply to the top of the white tips
6. Allow to dry

Polishes use: Blue (Color: Mar-zi-panna, Brand: Spoiled by Wet n Wild) White (Color: White On, Brand: Sally Hansen, Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear) Sparkle (Color: Disco Ball, Brand: Sally Hansen, Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear)

Candy Cane Nails

1. Apply two coats of a red polish to all nails. Allow it to dry completely
2. Take a white polish and draw a diagonal line across each nail
   • TIP: get as much polish off of the brush to make this step easier. The thinner the brush, the easier this step is.
3. Take white polish and fill in the corners with a diagonal line, one at the top and one at the bottom, creating the candy cane look
   • Don’t be afraid to be really messy! You can always clean it up!
4. Take a cotton swab soaked in polish remover and clean up the edges of your nail
5. Fix or fill in any lines, if you desire
6. Allow to dry

Polishes used: Red (Color: Vodka and Cavier, Brand: OPI) White (Color: White On, Brand: Sally Hansen, Hard as Nail Xtreme Wear)

New Year’s Eve Nails—Gatsby inspired

1. Apply a coat (or two if needed) of black nail polish to all nails. Allow it to dry completely
2. Take a paper clip or bobby pin and open it up
3. Put a small amount of gold polish on a piece of paper
4. Dab bobby pin into polish
5. Draw two vertical lines on all nails, except ring fingernail
6. Option 1: Draw a star shape on ring fingernail using gold polish
7. Option 2: Apply gold nail polish on top of black polish on ring finger
8. Allow to dry
