A two-car collision occurred on Old U.S. Route 33 around 11 a.m. Thursday resulting in one fatality and two injuries, state and local authorities said Thursday afternoon.
Athens County Coroner Harold C. Thompson confirmed there was one death.
The route was reopened at about 3:30 p.m. One of the cars involved was towed about 30 minutes earlier.
As of now, the incident is being investigated by the Athens post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said that more information will be released later today.
