The Technology Depot and Bobcat Essentials are combining to “better serve” Ohio University, according to a university press release.
“The more each operation discussed the opportunity to combine, the more it simply made sense,” Gwyn Scott, associate vice president for Auxiliaries, said in the release.
Bobcat Essentials, which sells clothing, school supplies and magazines is housed on the fourth floor of Baker University Center.
The Tech Depot, on the first floor of Baker, sells computer accessories and offers technology support.
The two shops will combine and be housed on the first floor of Baker later this year.
It’s not clear if the university will renovate Baker to make room for the combined store or what will occupy Bobcat Essentials’ current location.
The university is soliciting opinion about what to name the shop from students and faculty via an online survey. Whoever submits the university’s final choice will win a 16GB iPad mini.
“We can’t wait to offer this collective retail operation to everyone at OHIO,” Joseph Lalley, senior associate vice president of Technology & Administrative Services, said in the release.
