Maybe the reason the Walter Fieldhouse project is so far behind is because of the unsafe contractors being used by Turner Construction!
OSHA has been watching the site because of numerous complaints and the subcontractors’ dismal safety record.
These subcontractors, namely Claypool Electric and Watertown Steel, are not used to that type of scrutiny. Working safely is something they’re probably not used to. Having to actually do things safely is probably slowing them down because the workers are probably not accustomed to doing things the right way!
If the university had a better policy in place, only accepting bids from safe contractors, the project would stand a much better chance of being completed on time and on budget.
