The National Weather Service has issued a warning for Southeast Ohio that the area may be experiencing conditions conducive to widespread fire growth.
The "Red Flag Warning" states Athens will be experiencing 10-25 mph winds amid low humidity until 7 p.m. Thursday, according to the Charleston, WV NWS office.
These factors, coupled with "warm temperatures can create extreme fire-growth potential," according to the warning.
"Fires could easily get out on control...especially in grassy and brush-filled areas," it continued.
