Academics and Resources Committee:
The joint academics and resources committee convened Thursday morning to discuss future plans.
The first was from the Transforming Ohio plan that includes the university’s large projects including construction projects, the Total Compensation Plan, which is an effort to make all OU employee salaries more comparable to positions in other Ohio industries and the $100 Million Investment Strategy, which collects money for specific academic programs.
Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit; Eva Klein, a higher education consultant who helps clients design strategic visions; Donna Goss, director of real estate and community engagement; Joseph Shields, vice president for research and creative activity and dean of the graduate college; and Shawna Bolin, director of university planning and space management presented the project.
“What we’ve done here is we’ve shown you a snapshot of the kinds of planning that we’re doing that move us forward,” Benoit said to the board. “It’s not all the planning, you’ll continue to see more of that, but here are snapshots of the kinds of things we’re doing that we believe will move us forward and transform Ohio University.”
President Roderick McDavis commended the group on their efforts.
“I really appreciate the collaboration that has occurred to bring this presentation forward,” he said.
Steve Golding, vice president for finance and administration, gave a budget update on the current budget for fiscal year 2014 and for process of finalizing the budget for fiscal year 2015.
The board did not vote on a final budget for fiscal year 2015. The board usually meets in April rather than March and because the meeting had been moved up the budget was not ready. The board will vote on a budget when it next meets in June.
