Athens police release still image from hit-and-run on Ohio University's Moms Weekend

The Athens Police Department has released a still image from a hit-and-run that occurred the night of April 4 at the intersection of East State Street and Stimson Avenue.

Surveillance footage revealed that the vehicle, a light colored SUV suspected to be a Jeep Cherokee, struck a female pedestrian visiting Athens for Moms Weekend. The pedestrian was then transported to a Columbus hospital and treated for head injuries.

Witnesses described the driver as a white female with blond hair.

The footage was reviewed by each witness prior to the release of the image, Investigative Lt. Jeff McCall said.

"We had to have the witnesses view the footage and come to the consensus it was the correct vehicle," he said.

Anyone with information regarding the driver is being asked to call the police department at 740-592-3313.
