Council, committees to touch on projects, electric aggregation at tonight's meeting

Athens City Council will meet tonight for a combined committees and council meeting due to the skipped meeting last week.

Councilwoman Michele Papai, D-3rd Ward, will kick off the meeting with a presentation on the multi-million dollar summer improvements to South Richland Avenue and Union Street — both of which are set to begin next month.

Councilwoman Chris Fahl, D-4th Ward, is slated to discuss improved streets at the University Estates.

Then, in the regular council session, city officials will further negotiate on applying for a Community Development Block Grant, purchasing a new track hoe for the city and closing Court Street this July for Rally North America.

Furthermore, the city will give an update on it's electric aggregation plan, which was approved in November's general election.
