Council to meet on armory, summer plans

Athens City Council will congregate tonight at 7 p.m. for its biweekly committees meeting, hosted on the third floor of Athens City Hall.

Councilwoman Michele Papai, head of the Transportation Committee, will bring up the annual Boogie on the Bricks, a free music and art festival hosted on Court Street during June.

The Transportation Committee will also discuss the Job Access and Reverse Commute to Chauncey. Councilwoman Jennifer Cochran, head of the Safety-Service Committee, will host a presentation from the Beautification Committee on littering. ?

Planning and Development Committee, lead by Councilwoman Chris Fahl, will host a presentation from the Ad Hoc committee on code review and reports. The committee will also discuss plans with the National Guard Armory, located at the North end of Court Street.

Finally, the Finance and Personnel Committee will lead a talk about public defender contracts and city employee life insurance. Though typically hosted by Councilwoman Chris Knisely, Steve Patterson will front the Finance and Personnel Committee tonight while Knisely is absent.
