An Athens County Grand Jury indicted four folks on a whopping 27 criminal counts related to a supposed drug ring that Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn has said may stretch from Athens County to Canada.
The charges stem from the May 5 arrest of Derek James Gyure, who is believed to be a supplier for multiple drug dealers in Southeast Ohio. Shortly before his arrest, Gyure reportedly chucked an ammunition box of approximately 1,400 tablets believed to be Oxycodone 30 mg pills, which adds up to a street value of approximately $42,000, and also contained about $17,000 in cash.
“This is far from over,” said Athens County Prosecuting Attorney Keller Blackburn in a press release from his office Thursday. “Law enforcement will continue to seek out all who have been involved in this criminal enterprise.”
Charles A. Wachenschwanz, 45, of Chauncey, was indicted Thursday for illegal drugs and other crimes. His indictments include five felonies and two first degree misdemeanors. The counts include one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, one count of illegal cultivation of marijuana, one count of endangering children, one count of possessing criminal tools, one count of having weapons while under disability, one count of possessing a defaced firearm and one count of petty theft.
His wife, Patsy Wachenschwanz, 50, was also indicted on one count of endangering children, a third degree felony.
Kendra Sharrer, 22, of Glouster, also received a three count superseding indictment from the grand jury, including two first degree felonies — engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity and one count for aggravated possession of drugs — and a third degree felony count for tampering with evidence.
