Road closures coming around Baker and Alden

Don't plan on driving through one part of campus tomorrow.

Due to repairs to underground water lines, Park Place and South Court Street will be closed to automobile traffic starting 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. OU expects traffic to return to normal by Wednesday morning.

Both lanes of of Park Place and South Court Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, an Ohio University press release said, but pedestrian access to Alden Library and Baker University Center will be maintained.

Traffic will be routed from University Terrace to East Union Street, connecting motorists to College Street and Uptown.

No parking or stopping will be permitted on either road during the closure.

The release added that a water outage is not expected, but could occur due to the nature of the repair.

Following Tuesday’s closure, the south lane of Park Place will reopen to traffic, as well as northbound traffic on South Court Street. However, the westbound lane of Park Place closest to Alden Library will remain closed until December for repair on a steam tunnel.
