Aquabear County Fair features Athens talent and visiting artists

Aquabear County Fair brings talent in from all around the state

Over Friday and Saturday, 15 artists will perform at The Union Bar & Grill, 18 W. Union St., and Haffa’s Records, 15 W. Union St., for the 8th Annual Aquabear County Fair.

The event will be headlined by Connections, a garage rock band based out of Columbus, and joined by Athens regulars Dead Hand of Man, Supernobody, Unmonumental and many others.

The event is being put on by Aquabear Legion, a group based out of Athens that is “dedicated to supporting and enhancing independent music and art in our extended region,” as stated on its website. The group releases compilations of Athens bands in support of the Ohio music scene.

All three shows are free and kicks off Friday with performances from Athens acts The Heartlanders, The Summoners and surf rockers The D-Rays, as well as visiting acts The Speaking Suns and WVWhite

Haffa’s Records kicks off Saturday’s festivities with sets from Joe Anderl of The 1984 Draft, Adam Remnant of Southeast Engine and Chris Biester. Later, at The Union, Athens rock heavyweights will take the stage: Dead Hand of Man, Supernobody, Unmonumental, Hex Net and Weedghost with visiting acts Connections and The 1984 Draft.
