Mobile app reveals possible death threat for OU president

An apparent death threat that appeared on social media says Ohio University's president will be shot on Oct. 20.

A photo posted on Unseen, a mobile anonymous photo-sharing application, says Ohio University President Roderick McDavis “will be shot on 10/20/2014,” four days from now.

The message, seemingly written on a bathroom stall, was allegedly posted in Jefferson Hall on East Green. The photo is captioned with “WTF.”

Due to the nature of Unseen, The Post could not immediately verify the legitimacy of the apparent threat, when the photo showing it was posted or who posted it.

A door in the men’s bathroom in the lobby of Jefferson Hall was removed and OU Police officers went door-to-door in the hall Thursday night.

Stephen Golding, vice president for Finance and Administration, who oversees the OU Police Department, said Thursday afternoon that the university is aware of the threat and is investigating.

“We’re on it,” Golding told The Post.

OUPD released a statement Thursday night indicating that they became aware of the threat earlier that afternoon. The statement said OUPD is “working with the President’s Office to take appropriate measures to ensure the President’s safety.”
