Men's Basketball: Ndour named MAC East player of the week

After his performance — including a game-winning dunk — on Saturday, Maurice Ndour was named the Mid-American Conference East player of the week, announced Monday.

For the first time this season, a Bobcat was named the Mid-American Conference East player of the week. It was a shoe-in after Maurice Ndour dropped a career-high 31 points on Saturday.

The senior forward, who had been given this honor three times last season, led Ohio (7-10, 2-4 MAC) to its 63-61 victory over Buffalo (12-6, 3-3 MAC) after his last-second dunk following an almost full-court heave by Antonio Campbell on the inbound pass.

This came after he was one of three players (all seniors) with double-digit point totals in Ohio's win against Ball State Wednesday. He added 17 points and a team-high eight rebounds the 82-73 win. 11 of his points were scored in the second half, when he went 5-of-7 from the field.

This past week, he helped the Bobcats pick up their first two wins in conference play. In those two games, he averaged team-leading numbers in points (24 per game), rebounds (seven), while hitting 16 of his 25 shots and 14 of his 17 free throws — including a career-best 10-10 on Saturday.
