OU student died while the university was on a week-long Spring Break.
An Ohio University junior, Jasmine Cosby, died on March 2, according to a university news release. She was 20 years old.
University officials were not immediately able to provide her cause of death.
Cosby, a Canal Winchester resident and a 2012 graduate of Pickerington Central High School, studied sociology and pre-law and was an active member of the Christian student organizations Anointed Ministries and Divine Covering.
“We are deeply saddened by this sudden loss of such a strong leader on our campus,” said Jenny Hall-Jones, dean of students, in the release. “On behalf of Ohio University, we express our condolences to Jasmine’s family and friends.”
“Jasmine was a bright, thoughtful, outstanding young woman,” said Thomas Vander Ven, a sociology professor who taught Cosby, in the release.
