Cross Country: Former Ohio University runner to compete in Pan-American Games Marathon

Former cross country runner Craig Leon will be racing for the U.S. in the Pan-American Games Marathon.

Former Ohio cross country runner Craig Leon will be running for the United States during the Pan-American Games Marathon on July 25.

The race will begin at 7:05 a.m. in Toronto, Ontario.

This will not be Leon’s first marathon. He’s competed in high-profile marathons before, such as Boston’s and Chicago’s, and barely missed the cut to compete in the 2012 London Olympics for Team USA.

At the most recent marathon he ran in Eugene, Oregon, Leon ran a winning time of 2:21:33. In the 69 marathons he’s participated in, he’s won 18.

While at Ohio University, Leon was a key runner for the Bobcats. He was an individual qualifier for the NCAA cross country championships in 2007. Leon also helped the Bobcats place fourth in the 2007 MAC championships, coming in second.
