Minnesota beat Ohio 27-24 on its homecoming.
Ohio’s near upset of Minnesota fell just short as a late touchdown by the Golden Gophers was enough for a 27-24 win in Minneapolis.
The Bobcats finish the non-conference portion of their schedule 3-1.
After a 41-yard field goal by Josiah Yazdani to make it 24-20, Minnesota drove the length of the field, before a 3-yard rushing touchdown from Minnesota running back Shannon Brooks with 30 seconds left put the home team in front.
On the ensuing kickoff, Daz Patterson broke free to the left and was finally pushed out at the Minnesota 43.
The Bobcats were then able to move down to the Golden Gophers 31, where they lined up for a final field goal attempt.

Yazdani came out for a 53-yard field goal, but Ohio was flagged for a delay of game, despite a Minnesota timeout. The penalty forced Ohio out of field goal territory.
Vick was brought back out for one final throw with six seconds, but it was batted down on the goal line.
Ohio will play Akron next Saturday in its first Mid-American Conference matchup. Both teams were predicted to finish 2nd in the MAC East in a preseason coaches’ poll.
