Former Ohio forward Maurice Ndour was waived by the Dallas Mavericks to finalize their regular-season roster, according to Yahoo sports.
Ndour earned a guaranteed deal with the Mavericks over the summer, but after suffering a stress reaction in his left leg, Dallas decided to keep center Salah Mejri. Ndour will clear waivers on Wednesday, sources told Yahoo.
"It was a really tough decision," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told Yahoo.
Ndour went undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft, but after averaging 9.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in five summer league games with the New York Knicks, piqued the interest of Cuban and the Mavericks.
Ndour was considered a strong candidate to remain on the roster before his injury, per Yahoo.
In two seasons with Ohio, Ndour started 61 games, scored 977 points and grabbed 502 career rebounds.
"We are going to miss a young man who's going to play for the Dallas Mavericks, no questions about it," Ohio coach Saul Phillips said of Ndour last week. "... I can't guarantee they'll ever be another Maurice Ndour here."
