Post Haste: Tamale cart could come to Athens; Ohio University Halloween guest charge gets raised

Good morning. Here's what you need to know for Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015:

One, two, three, four food trucks aren’t enough for Athens.

A man named Andy Graybeal on Saturday created a gofundme.com page that aims to aid in the founding of a tamale truck that would call Athens its home.

Graybeal plans to rely heavily on locally sourced ingredients when preparing the tamales, and he’ll also explore “ancient dishes from the pre-colonization of the Americas.”

Graybeal, a Columbus native and former Casa Nueva worker, set a $25,000 fundraising goal, which is more than 90 percent of the operation’s startup costs.

But an update on the page says Graybeal recently found a tamale cooker that’s cheaper than anticipated, so he’ll likely need a little less than expected to move the idea forward.

If all this tamale talk made you curious about the ins and outs of mobile food purveying, check out this week’s Post Modern about food trucks.
