Tywan Claxton waits for time to run out in his match on February 23, 2014. The Bobcats defeated Garnder Webb University in the Convo.

Wrestling: Tywan Claxton appeal denied

NCAA ends Claxton's bid for a fourth year of eligibility to wrestle.

According to a Twitter post earlier today, redshirt senior Tywan Claxton’s appeal has been denied by the NCAA.

Claxton was appealing for a fourth year of eligibility to wrestle, due to wrestling in two competitions in 2012 — the year he redshirted.

Before coming to Ohio in 2012, Claxton wrestled at Division II King University in Tennessee where he was awarded All-American honors.

This comes after eight months of waiting for a decision to be made, and with only three days before Ohio opens its season at the Eastern Michigan University Duals.

“We heard from the NCAA the other day because they wanted some clarification and more documents,” Greenlee previously said. “It’s definitely not under a pile of papers anywhere. I think they're gathering information. We’re just asking for a fourth year.”

This ends Claxton’s career as a Bobcat. He finished fourth in the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships and appeared in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
