Football: Kurt Laseak awarded MAC's Male Scholar Athlete of the Week award

Kurt Laseak named MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Redshirt junior defensive end Kurt Laseak was awarded with the Mid-American Conference’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Week award Wednesday, the conference announced.

The award honors students who make extraordinary efforts on the field as well as excelling in their studies.

The 6-foot-4 lineman from Mentor, Ohio is currently posting a 3.793 cumulative grade point average as he pursues his degree in mechanical engineering.

Laseak has been a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball for Ohio this season. He finished the regular season tied for third on the team with 53 tackles, 5.5 of which stopped the opponent for a loss.  

He’s also recorded four sacks and recovered a fumble this year. Laseak was also a major factor in Ohio’s 26-20 upset against MAC West champions, Northern Illinois, on Nov. 24, making eight tackles in the contest.
