Not shoveling could lead to a fine.
Good morning. Here’s what you need to know for Tuesday, January 26, 2016:
You know all that disgusting slush and sludge still on some sidewalks in Athens?
If it’s there, it’s illegal. If you haven't shoveled your sidewalk yet, now would be the time. Four hours after snowfall, Athens city code indicates, residents must shovel their sidewalks.
If you haven’t, it might just be a matter of time. A misdemeanor could be charged to you, with a fine up to $150.
This past winter, 45 warnings were handed out to residents, according to past Post reporting.
Bottom line: It might behoove you to clean up your sidewalks.
