Post Haste: Don't feed the OU groundhogs on Groundhog Day; Ohio basketball readies for Akron

Today is Groundhog Day.

Good morning. Here's what you need to know for Tuesday, Feb. 2 2016:

Groundhog Day is officially here.

Today in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Phil will reveal to the world if we will have six more weeks of winter or if spring will come early.

Regardless, we have just more than a month until Athens’ fest season kicks off on Mill Street.

Groundhogs can be cute. Especially ones that reside at Ohio University — but whatever you do, do not feed them. It could kill them, as we notably reported last fall.

On a brighter note, Groundhog Day is widely regarded as one of the funnier movies starring Bill Murray.

In honor of the holiday we’ll leave you with this quote from the film:

“This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather.”
