OU President Roderick McDavis speaks at the Student Senate meeting Oct. 7.

Student Trustees to present to senate body in last meeting before elections

Ohio University Student Trustees Sharmaine Wilcox and Patrick Roden will present Board of Trustees' agenda items during Student Senate's Wednesday meeting.

Ohio University Student Senate will hear a presentation on the Board of Trustees' agenda items Wednesday from Student Trustees Sharmaine Wilcox and Patrick Roden.

Wilcox hopes the presentation will "create more channels of communication to reach students beyond those that attend senate general body meetings."

“The Student Senate meeting provides a great space to present on Board of Trustees agenda items and to gain immediate and collaborative feedback from students,” Wilcox said in an email.

Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the body will vote on a resolution to appoint Karen Opuku, International Affairs commissioner, and Cassidy Paul, a Women’s Affairs senator, to senate's Budget Committee.

Cassidy and Karen are members of commissions that are not represented on the Budget Committee and are active members of the Student Senate body, Jacob Haskins, Budget Committee chair, said in an email.

Graduate student Kristeena Blaser will present her idea for a “student sustainability fee” to the body. The proposed fee would be applied to student accounts similar to the way the university's legal and wellbeing fees are applied, Blaser said in an email to Student Senate President Gabby Bacha.
