Restaurants such as Nine Tables and Lui Lui Restaurant are serving up special dishes for Mother’s Day.
It can be hard for someone to decide where to take their mom out on Mother’s Day to show her they appreciate all that she does. Rather than heading to Bob Evans for brunch and The CI for cocktails, Athens dwellers and their moms should check out the local food scene to take mom out for a special treat.
Lui Lui Restaurant
The Asian-fusion restaurant is offering a Mother’s Day buffet from 11:30 a.m to 2 p.m., Andrea Molnar, the owner of Lui Lui restaurant, said.
Lui Lui’s has been setting up the special buffet, which costs $23 per person, for around 15 years. The buffet offers foods like sushi and stir fry, as well as a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts.
“Mothers are such a wonderful part of your life and bringing them here would be a big treat and I’m sure they would enjoy it,” Molnar said.
9 Tables
9 Tables is known best for providing elegant meals to guests and not “flipping” its tables to let the guests take their time to enjoy their meal and “spend time with family,” Bill Justice, the owner of 9 Tables, said.
For Mother’s Day, the fine-dining restaurant is providing a “mom’s eat free” deal.
“We have been rated the No. 1 fine dining restaurant in Ohio for five years in a row on Urbanspoon and Zomato,” Justice said. “Chances are it’s going to be one of the nicest dinners you’re going to have.”
The restaurant will be serving a seven course prix fixe dinner, which means all of the courses will be served at a fixed price, which will take roughly two hours to eat, Justice said. The meal will include items such as mussels with white wine sauce and filet mignon.
The special will be going on Saturday and guests must have a reservation.
Athens Uncorked
Athens Uncorked, known for serving wine flights and cheese plates, will be doing a “Mom-osa” drink special on Friday and Saturday. The mimosa will be a larger size than usual and will incorporate either regular or blood orange juice, Kathy Hayes-Blake, the co-owner of Athens Uncorked, said.
The bar will also be introducing its new dessert of the month on Friday, which is a limoncello pound cake. They will still offer their usual desserts, which are housemade truffles and cabernet sauvignon brownies, Hayes-Blake said.
“We have some nice desserts to give to our sweet moms,” Hayes-Blake said.
There will also be a musical performance on Saturday at 7 p.m. by classic and jazz solo guitarist John Horne, Hayes-Blake said.
“I think it is a great place to treat your mom. It’s relaxing, it’s quiet,” Hayes-Blake said. “She would be pampered here.”
