Crime alert issued by OUPD after sexual assault

college-aged white male wanted for rape

A college-aged white male is wanted for rape, according to an Ohio University Police Department crime alert released Wednesday evening.

According to the report, a female was raped in her dorm room in Sowle Hall on South Green, by an unknown male on Tuesday around 2 a.m.

The male was described as a white, college-aged male, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet, heavier set, with blond hair and facial hair on his chin.

The report says the female communicated with the male via Snapchat and later met with him in her room.

It added that she denied his sexual advances, and he engaged in sexual conduct without consent.

This is the first crime alert OUPD has sent out this semester. The department only releases crime alerts when it considers a committed crime to pose an ongoing threat to students, employees and members of the OU community, according to the department's website.

The crime alert said if anyone has information that might pertain to the case or the safety of the community, they should contact OUPD at 740-593-1911.
