The Bobcats wouldn’t have been one of the best defenses in the Mid-American Conference this past season without Javon Hagan.
A versatile safety, Hagan showed an ability to make plays when the Bobcats needed them most.
The Football Writers Association of America named Hagan to the 2016 Sound Mind Sound Body Freshman All-America Team on Friday. Hagan was one of 15 defensive players to be selected and was the only MAC player to be selected.
Along with this selection, Hagan was named MAC Freshman of the Year earlier in the season; he also earned a spot as a Second Team All-MAC safety.
Hagan’s accomplishments display his talent, but his statistics are evidence of that talent. Hagan led the team with three interceptions as well as six forced fumbles. He was also fifth on the team in tackles with 53.
With Hagan only having one year of experience, he has the potential to be the leader of the defense next season.
