Gov. John Kasich selects new Ohio University trustee

An Ohio University alumnus has been appointed to the OU Board of Trustees.

Dell Robinson began his term on March 24 and was selected by Ohio Gov. John Kasich, according to a news release. Robinson’s term will end May 13, 2019.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dell Robinson, a successful alumni of Ohio University, to the Board of Trustees,” Board Chair David Wolfort said in the news release. “Dell is a terrific addition to our Board, having maintained continuous contact with our Bobcat family.”

Robinson received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from OU in 1988 and a master’s degree in sport administration from Iowa State University in 1992. He is a search associate for athletics at Spelman and Johnson, a leadership search firm serving higher education institutions based in Massachusetts.

Robinson fills the unexpired term of former Trustee Kevin Lake who pleaded guilty to drug, tax and fraud charges and to prescribing illegal prescriptions to hundreds of patients each day. Lake, who stepped down from the board Jan. 21, was found guilty of evading more than $3.5 million in taxes.

Robinson served as chair of the Ohio University National Alumni Association for two terms and received the Ohio University Distinguished Service Award. He is a member of the Ohio University College of Business Executive Advisory Board and the John McLendon Minority Scholarship Foundation Board.
