Halloween is upon us, and it’s time to get spooky. What better way is there to prepare than to listen to some equally spooky songs? Here are five spine-tingling songs to prepare you for Halloween:

“Monster Mash” is a classic Halloween tune. It’s a song everyone knows and can sing along to. The song has been covered by everyone from The Beach Boys to Kidz Bop. Having been released in 1962 and still remaining a Halloween-time favorite ever since, the “Monster Mash” is a must for any great Halloween playlist.
2. “This Is Halloween” – The Citizens of Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas
Some may argue that the whole The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack is essential for Halloween, but “This Is Halloween” is definitely a necessity of its own. If you want a song that’s a little scarier than the previous two, this is the one for you. From arguably one of the best movie scorers out there, John Carpenter’s theme song for his 1978 classic horror movie Halloween is a frightening tune. Deeming no vocals and an ominous piano riff, the theme song’s intensity builds and gives off a sense of paranoia as if Michael Myers is right there with you.
4. “Thriller” – Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is not only a monumental track by the king of pop himself, it’s also just the right amount of spooky for Halloween. Including an iconic music video that’s more like a short film and a dance that everyone everywhere knows, “Thriller” is a testament to the classic Halloween song. It’s catchy, it’s memorable and it’s a definite to listen to during Halloween-time.
5. “Spooky Scary Skeletons” – Andrew Gold
To close out the list of five spooky songs to prepare you for Halloween, we have Andrew Gold’s “Spooky Scary Skeletons.” Though Andrew Gold’s original version is equally as good, The Living Tombstone’s remix of the song has resulted in its popularity. Blending dubstep with the original’s Halloween-esque sense, “Spooky Scary Skeletons” is a song that can get anyone up and dancing. It’s definitely one to set the scene for any great Halloween party.
