OUPD fields second report of rape this semester

The Ohio University Police Department received its second report of rape for the Fall Semester on Friday morning.

According to a police report, an 18-year-old female student reported unwanted sexual contact in Perkins Hall on East Green. The incident allegedly took place at about 3:20 a.m.

The incident is the third sex offense reported to OUPD so far this year.

On Oct. 22, the department issued a crime alert after a man reportedly pushed a female student against a tree and grabbed her breasts. The report was classified as gross sexual imposition.

According to the alert, the woman escaped after kneeing the man in the groin. She said the man fled on foot toward Mill Street, but officers were unable to find him.

On Oct. 10, OUPD officers collected an anonymously submitted sexual assault evidence collection kit. That incident was classified as rape.
