OUPD receives third sexual assault report in nine days

The Ohio University Police Department received its third report of a sex offense on campus for the Fall Semester on Monday night. All three reports have come in within a span of nine days.

According to the OUPD call log, police collected a sexual assault evidence kit from OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital at about 11:14 p.m.

The incident was classified as rape and is the fourth sex offense reported to OUPD so far this year.

On Monday, a female OU student reported unwanted sexual contact in Perkins Hall on East Green.

On Oct. 22, the department issued a crime alert after a man reportedly pushed a female student against a tree and grabbed her breasts near the mulch piles on North McKinley Avenue. The report was classified as gross sexual imposition. According to the alert, the woman escaped after kneeing the man in the groin. She said the man fled on foot toward Mill Street, but officers were unable to find him.

On Oct. 10, OUPD officers collected an anonymously submitted sexual assault evidence collection kit from O'Bleness. That incident was classified as rape.
