Student Senate: Body to hear from sustainability office, vote on business cards

Ohio University Student Senate will vote on three resolutions during its Wednesday night meeting.

One of the resolutions, if it passes, will allocate a small portion of Senate’s budget — about $94 — to create 1,000 business cards for Students Defending Students, a subsidy of Student Senate. Students Defending Students is an organization that represents and counsels students as they go through the Community Standards process.

As a nonprofit, it is run entirely by student volunteers, and has provided services since its creation in 1976.

Another resolution would change the title of certain positions within the Senate Appropriations Commission from chairperson to vice commissioner, which would "align more closely" with the description of the position.

The third resolution would allow executive officers to appoint acting commissioners in the event that a commissioner is removed from office.

Additionally, the body will hear a presentation from the Office of Sustainability, which advocates for environmental, social and economic well-being for the university. They will also hear from Dustin Kilgour, executive director of Event Services.
