Nelson Dining Hall employee arrested for making terroristic threats

An Ohio University employee was arrested for allegedly making terroristic threats to fellow employees at Nelson Dining Hall on Monday.

The employee, identified as Curtis Embrey of Rutland, threatened to “take down” himself and other dining hall employees when he arrived at work around 2 p.m., according to a news release from the OU Police Department.

The threats were reportedly made shortly before noon, and investigated with assistance from the Fairfield-Hocking-Athens Major Crimes Unit.

University Dining Services worked with the department to temporarily close Nelson Commons when Embrey was arrested. He was taken into custody without incident at 1:35 p.m. in a nearby parking garage.

Embrey was transported to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and is banned from campus.

Making terroristic threats is classified as a third-degree felony. The penalty for a third-degree felony is one to five years in prison with a maximum fine of $10,000. OUPD asks that anyone who sees Embrey contact the department at 740-593-1911.
